This was a pretty cool project. The product was conceived and development managed by a Jacqueline, age 11 / 12. We built the whole thing with her demographic in mind. The front-end was an AngularJS app, served as a static page. It was completely offline-ready, taking advantage of the Application Cache, and Local Storage APIs. Users could work completely offline, and the app would synchronise the next time they were online. The add-to-homescreen experience was pretty native-feeling on iPhone and iPad, or Android if you're into that kind of thing. Perfect for your iPod touch.
The client ultimately abandoned the web version of this project, wanting instead to put the product in the App Store™️
